DERRICK WALKER COURT RESIDENTS UNITE TO OPPOSE ADVERTISING BOARDS IN SUDDEN5.57.00pm GMT Tue 4th Mar 2008
Sudden Local Liberal Democrat campaigner Mohammed Shafiq has joined forces with local residents in Derrick Walker court to oppose the advertising boards that have recently appeared at the Sudden roundabout. The boards were erected recently at the sudden roundabout without no consultation with residents or any information in the local media. Residents are furious that along with the trees that have been demolished, the area outside Derrick Walker Court looks run down and the view is not very good. Mohammed Shafiq commented: "I share the concern of the residents in Derrick Walker Court that these advert boards have appeared without any prior warning or consultation, this sort of activity dents the confidence residents have in the Council, it is important that when such changes are proposed that local residents are consulted. I along with my fellow Liberal Democrat Councillors Andrew Abbott and William Hobhouse are working hard to start a campaign with residents against these advertising boards, it is clear that the Lib Dems are the only party that is serious about devolving power down to local communities. Along with residents we will gather a petition to oppose these boards and urge all local residents to join the campaign by ringing 07989764624.
