Labour deceit over David Murphy is shameful4.15.00pm GMT Fri 9th Nov 2007 Middleton Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman Councillor Wera Hobhouse condemns the Labour Party for trying to covering up David Murphy move overseas. The residents of Middleton deserve Councillors that serve them all year round and it is essential that Councillors lives in the Borough. It is now clear that Councillor Murphy has moved to Spain and thus should resign his seat and allow the voters to choose an alternative. Councillor Murphy's deceit and Labour's attempts to cover this up is shameful and a sad moment for the residents of Middleton. It is unacceptable for Councillor Murphy to remain a Councillor whilst he is not event present in the country, Middleton deserves better and only the Liberal Democrats can provide that alternative. Councillor Wera Hobhouse comments: "Once again the Labour Party have conned the residents of Middleton, their role in covering up David Murphy's move to Spain is despicable and they should hang their head in shame. Middleton residents need their elected Councillors to be in Middleton not in Spain. "For too long Labour have taken Middleton for granted and its time for change, There is no option but resignation by Councillor David Murphy, Conning the residents of Middleton by staying in Spain and claiming a £10, 000 allowance and not representing their views is the worse thing to do, sadly he brings the good name of public service into question. Middleton Liberal Democrats will not give up until this deliberate cover up is exposed and Councillor Murphy resigns. Residents in Middleton have a chance on November 29th to vote against this despicable betrayal by voting for Rhoda Morley. Only the Liberal Democrats can bring back honesty to Politics in Middleton"
