Bamford Residents Can Finally Cross With Safety

The construction of a much-needed pedestrian crossing on a busy Bamford Road is now complete. Local residents called for a crossing because of the difficulties in getting to Bamford Primary School and local shops across the busy Norden Road. Local Councillors William Hobhouse and Andrew Abbott took up the issue 3 years ago and secured funding from the Rochdale Township for the traffic lights and crossing to be installed.

Council to Introduce Free After Three Parking

Rochdale Borough Council is set to introduce free parking after 3pm on all pay and display car parks across the borough in a bid boost the local economy.

Local Member of the European Parliament, Chris Davies, has expressed his dismay at the system of expenses in the European Parliament that can see MEPs become millionaires in just two terms. The rules allow MEPs to employ family members who can be paid up to £500,000 over one term, just one of the ways in which some members manipulate the system to take home more money themselves.
